WEB DESK: In a dramatic, eleventh-hour turnaround, United States President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of planned military strikes against Iran, claiming that the framework of a sweeping regional agreement has been accepted by Tehran’s highest leadership and key Middle Eastern stakeholders.
The sudden de-escalation averts an imminent conflict that had threatened to plunge the region into an all-out war.
However, the US president underscored that a stringent naval blockade would remain firmly in place until a formal accord is officially signed.
A ‘Grand Bargain’ claims breakthrough
Addressing reporters, President Trump stated that intense, back-channel negotiations had secured unprecedented approval at the highest levels of the Iranian establishment.

According to Washington, the proposed framework has received nods of assent from a broad coalition of regional powers, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Israel, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.
“We were ready to go, but we have achieved a breakthrough that nobody thought possible,” Trump said, describing the tentative agreement as a comprehensive blueprint for long-term regional stability.
While skeptics have questioned the feasibility of a single diplomatic framework uniting such historically adversarial nations, Washington insists that the details of a formal signing ceremony will be made public in the coming days.
Blockade remains amid cautious optimism
Despite the suspension of kinetic military action, the Pentagon confirmed that naval deployments in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz will not be dialled back.
The ongoing blockade, which has severely disrupted maritime trade and choked Iran’s remaining oil exports, is being maintained as leverage to ensure Tehran complies with the finalized terms.
Diplomatic observers in the region have reacted with cautious optimism, noting that while the immediate threat of a catastrophic missile campaign has subsided, the architecture of the deal remains incredibly fragile.
Officials in Islamabad and Riyadh have yet to issue formal statements detailing their exact roles in the mediation process, though sources suggest that intense diplomatic maneuvering behind closed doors had been underway for weeks to avert a kinetic showdown.
