WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Israel would no longer carry out strikes on Lebanon, adding that any U.S. engagement with Iran would not be linked to developments in Lebanon.
“Israel will not be bombing Lebanon any longer. They are PROHIBITED from doing so by the U.S.A. Enough is enough!!!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
In the same post, Trump said a separate U.S. approach involving Iran would proceed independently of Lebanon-related issues, and that Washington would “work with Lebanon” on what he described as addressing the Hezbollah situation “in an appropriate manner.”
He also referred to unspecified arrangements involving U.S. B-2 bombers and “nuclear dust,” saying no financial transaction would take place, though he did not provide further details or context for the remarks.
Trump’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where cross-border strikes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon have intensified in recent months, raising fears of broader regional escalation.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Trump’s statement, and there was no immediate reaction from Israeli or Lebanese officials.
It was not immediately clear what authority Trump was referring to in saying Israel would be “prohibited” from conducting military operations in Lebanon.
The remarks also follow ongoing diplomatic activity involving U.S. officials and regional governments aimed at containing violence along the Israel-Lebanon border and limiting the risk of wider conflict.
Trump, who has frequently used social media to issue foreign policy statements, did not provide a timeline or details for any potential U.S.-Iran engagement mentioned in the post.
