QUETTA: The Balochistan government has declared a two-day public holiday to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
According to an official notification, all government and semi-government offices across the province will remain closed on September 5 and 6 (Friday and Saturday).
However, officials assigned to emergency and essential services will continue performing their duties.
The Sindh government has also declared September 5 and 6 as public holidays on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Earlier, the federal government had announced September 6 as a nationwide public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
The Cabinet Division issued the notification with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi, is observed across Pakistan with deep religious devotion and enthusiasm.
The day is marked by processions, gatherings, and educational seminars highlighting the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Mahafil-e-Milad are organized in both small towns and major cities to commemorate Seerat-un-Nabi and to promote the teachings of the Last Prophet (PBUH).
Milad processions are also taken out in major cities, where Ulema deliver sermons on various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), emphasizing adherence to his teachings and Sunnah.
On August 24, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that Eid Milad-un-Nabi would be observed on Saturday, September 6, 2025, after the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal was not sighted.
The announcement was made following a meeting chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Secretariat, attended by representatives from the Islamabad Zonal Committee, SUPARCO, the Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
