UEFA Europa Conference League: quarter-final match-ups revealed


The UEFA Europa Conference League late on Friday announced its quarter-final matchups.

NYON: The UEFA Europa Conference League late on Friday announced the draw for the quarter-finals at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. Teams from across Europe now prepare to face off against each other as they seek a place in the semi-finals.

In the upcoming quarter-finals, Club Brugge from Belgium will take on PAOK from Greece, while Olympiacos, also from Greece, is set to face Fenerbahçe from Turkey.

Another matchup will feature Aston Villa from England against the French side LOSC Lille, with Viktoria Plzeň from the Czech Republic set to clash against Fiorentina, representing Italy.

Aston Villa demonstrated their prowess by topping their group and securing an impressive victory over Ajax from the Netherlands in the previous round. Led by manager Unai Emery, Aston Villa boasts a strong European record, having previously won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

Club Brugge, winners of their group, will challenge PAOK after defeating Molde from Norway in the previous round. Fenerbahçe, a prominent Turkish club, secured their place in the quarter-finals with a victory over Royale Union Saint-Gilloise from Belgium.

Fiorentina earned their place in the quarter-finals after a hard-fought win against Maccabi Haifa. Meanwhile, LOSC Lille, winners of their group, will face Aston Villa after defeating Sturm Graz from Austria.

Olympiacos, representing Greece and having transferred from the Europa League, emerged victorious against Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the previous round. They are now set to face Fenerbahçe.

PAOK, winners of their group, earned their place in the quarter-finals after defeating Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb. They will now take on Club Brugge, a Belgian team with a rich history in European competitions.

Viktoria Plzeň, winners of their group, secured their place in the quarter-finals after a tense penalty shootout victory against Swiss side Servette. They will now face Fiorentina, an Italian club aiming to enhance its European credentials.

The first legs of the quarter-finals are scheduled for April 11, followed by the second legs on April 18.
