Unknown persons occupy Karachi University’s visual studies department building

KARACHI: Unidentified individuals took over the new building of the University of Karachi Visual Studies Department on Wednesday, asserting ownership of the property, extending to several acres.

According to sources from Karachi University, some unknown persons entered the main gate of the department building on Abul Hassan Isphani Road by force and occupied the building.

The Visual Studies Department’s Architecture Department of the university was recently moved to this news building Syed Yasin Malik School. Teaching of the students had started and practical classes were also going on.

The forcible entry of unknown individuals into the building sparked fear and panic among the students and teachers on-site, leading students to relocate their educational and practical equipment.

At the request of Karachi University, officers from the concerned police station and Rangers officials also reached the spot.

The unknown persons who occupied the land claimed that the land was their property up to several acres. They presented legal documents to support their claim.

Karachi University also presented papers on ownership of the land. Talks were held between the two parties in the presence of police and Rangers, but the teaching series was suspended.
