US-Iran peace process: Islamabad hosts four-way foreign ministers’ meeting on regional tensions

Islamabad is hosting a high-level four-way meeting of foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt to discuss the escalating situation in the Middle East and explore ways to reduce regional tensions.

The meeting is being chaired by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry (Badr Abdelatty) in attendance.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Islamabad earlier today via a special flight and was warmly received at Nur Khan Airbase.

The Turkish and Egyptian foreign ministers had reached the city yesterday. Prior to the four-way talks, Ishaq Dar held separate bilateral meetings with his Turkish and Egyptian counterparts to discuss the region’s tense situation and matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting with Hakan Fidan, Dar emphasized the historically strong and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey, highlighting shared culture, history, and mutual respect.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation in various fields, reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations, and discussed ways to enhance strategic partnership.

The four-way discussions are focusing on the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the rising tensions between Iran and the United States, and strategies to ensure regional peace and stability.

Other issues under discussion include the security of energy supplies, protection of maritime routes, and potential humanitarian crises.

Analysts note that Pakistan’s hosting of this summit reflects the proactive role major Muslim countries are playing to prevent a larger regional conflict through diplomatic engagement.

It is expected that the meeting will conclude with a joint statement emphasising an immediate ceasefire, promoting dialogue, and reducing tensions in the region.
