Neelofar: visual treat ahead as Fawad–Mahira’s teaser leaves much to imagination

WEB DESK: When Mahira Khan wondered on a podcast why fans romanticise her and Fawad Khan so much, the teaser of Neelofar should be presented to her as a visual representation of that fawning.

The on-screen couple that made waves more than a decade ago in HUM TV’s Humsafar, returns with their ethereal selves in Tu Meri teaser, released today. Fawad looking dapper in a suit can be seen sitting on a wooden chair as he gazes onto the chess board across the table, when Mahira wearing a white sari enters the room and they both start to chat about Bait Baazi, an old game of Urdu couplets. They are exchanging the lines when Mahira’s character shares a couplet of Jaun Elia, with Fawad’s character dubbing it ‘dangerous’. Although the teaser is for a song, the melody in the background is mild and is not exactly a song.

Written and directed by Ammar Rasool, the film set to release on November 28 tells a poetic story of love, empathy, and resilience. It also marks Fawad Khan’s debut as executive producer alongside Hassaan Khalid and Usaf Shariq. Mahira plays the titular role, joined by a stellar cast including Madiha Imam, Sarwat Gilani, Atiqa Odho, and Gohar Rasheed.

The reunion of the Humsafar stars has fans thrilled, with Neelofar expected to be one of Pakistan’s most memorable cinematic releases of the year.
