Vote counting underway after polling concludes in AJK elections

WEB DESK: The vote counting process is underway after polling time ended in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections.

The Chief Election Commissioner had extended polling time by one hour beyond 5pm following requests from voters and political parties regarding turnout. The polling process officially concluded at 6pm.

According to election officials, the process of receiving and transmitting election results will continue in phases, while the Election Commission will announce the final results according to the prescribed procedure.

The first phase of elections was held in 13 constituencies of the Mirpur Division. A total of 1,400,437 voters were registered in the division, including 724,811 male and 675,626 female voters.

For the first phase, 2,316 polling stations were established, of which 1,241 were declared highly sensitive and 724 sensitive.

Unofficial results so far:

LA-1 Mirpur-1:

Unofficial results from 62 of 139 polling stations show PML-N candidate Azhar Sadiq leading with 8,271 votes, followed by PPP candidate Muhammad Afzal Shahid with 4,048 votes.

LA-2 Mirpur-2:

Results from 109 of 149 polling stations show PPP candidate Qasim Majeed leading with 9,300 votes, while PML-N’s Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry is second with 5,400 votes.

LA-3 Mirpur-3:

Unofficial results from 123 of 161 polling stations show PPP candidate Chaudhry Yasir Sultan ahead with 10,563 votes, followed by PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed with 7,008 votes.

LA-4 Mirpur-4:

Results from three polling stations show PML-N’s Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed leading with 454 votes, while PPP’s Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad has 290 votes.

LA-5 Bhimber-1:

Unofficial results from 104 of 176 polling stations show PML-N’s Waqar Ahmed Noor leading with 19,592 votes, followed by PPP’s Chaudhry Pervez Ashraf with 16,335 votes.

LA-6 Bhimber-2:

Results from 24 of 195 polling stations show PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Razzaq ahead with 3,814 votes, while IPP candidate Ali Shan Chaudhry is second with 3,351 votes.

LA-7 Bhimber-3:

Unofficial results from all 50 polling stations show PML-N’s Chaudhry Tariq Farooq leading with 8,789 votes, followed by independent candidate Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq with 5,359 votes.

LA-8 Kotli-1:

Results from 141 of 155 polling stations show PPP candidate Malik Zafar leading with 18,543 votes, while PML-N’s Malik Muhammad Nawaz is second with 11,093 votes.

LA-9 Kotli-2:

Unofficial results from one polling station show PML-N candidate Umair Naeem leading with 534 votes, followed by PPP candidate Javed Iqbal Budhanvi with 25 votes.

LA-10 Kotli-3:

Results from 36 of 169 polling stations show PPP’s Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin leading with 6,999 votes, while PML-N’s Fateh Mahmood-ul-Hassan is second with 3,560 votes.

LA-11 Kotli-4:

Results from two polling stations show PPP candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq leading with 254 votes, while PML-N’s Muhammad Asif has 148 votes.

LA-12 Kotli-5:

Unofficial results from 96 of 207 polling stations show PPP’s Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin leading with 14,411 votes, while PML-N’s Muhammad Riasat Khan is second with 13,151 votes.

LA-13 Kotli-6:

Results from 110 of 193 polling stations show PML-N’s Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan leading with 13,063 votes, while PPP candidate Muhammad Waleed Inqalabi is second with 8,995 votes.
