WhatsApp brings iPhone-style chat themes to Mac

Mac users can now enjoy more personalised WhatsApp chats, with the messaging app rolling out 38 colour options similar to those available on iPhones. The update, which began reaching users today, allows for both preset and fully customisable colour settings.

The new feature includes 22 preset colours along with adjustable brightness and custom colours, giving users greater control over the look of their chats. Users can also upload personal images as wallpapers and apply themes either globally or to individual conversations.

According to WABetaInfo, the themes automatically adjust message bubble and background colours to maintain a consistent visual style. Solid colours can also be combined with subtle design elements, offering more creative flexibility.

One limitation is that themes do not sync across devices. This means a chat can have one colour scheme on a Mac and a different scheme on an iPhone.

The update will gradually reach all users over the coming weeks. To check if the feature is available, Mac users can go to Settings and then Chats.
