Miley Cyrus is officially engaged to drummer Maxx Morando, with the couple confirming their relationship milestone after she appeared on the red carpet at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere in Los Angeles wearing a diamond ring.

A musician with a fashion streak

Morando, 27, is best known as the drummer for the rock band Liily, though he also plays guitar and previously performed with the Regrettes from 2015 to 2018.
He has also stepped into fashion. In a 2021 Vogue interview, Cyrus revealed that he helped design one of her festival outfits with Shane Kastl, praising their sustainability-focused collaboration.

Their relationship began in 2021

The pair were first linked in late 2021 after being photographed backstage at Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party in Miami. A month earlier, they had attended the Gucci Love Parade in Los Angeles, although it was unclear whether they were dating.

By April 2022, they appeared to confirm their romance when they were photographed kissing in West Hollywood. They went on to make red carpet appearances together, including the Versace show in 2023 and the Vanity Fair Oscars party in 2025.

Cyrus later revealed in a 2023 British Vogue interview that they met on a blind date, joking that “it was blind for me and not really for him”.

A creative partnership too

Morando has contributed to Cyrus’ music over the years. He worked on two tracks from her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation and later produced several songs on her 2025 record Something Beautiful. At the 2024 Grammys, where “Flowers” won record of the year, Cyrus thanked Morando during her speech and called him “my love”. The couple were photographed kissing at their table during the ceremony.

In early interviews and reports, insiders described their relationship as steady and grounding, noting that Cyrus seemed more settled and content. Cyrus’ mother, Tish Cyrus, has also publicly supported their relationship, saying her daughter appears happier than ever.

Cyrus’ engagement ring first drew attention in late November before she wore it again at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere, confirming the news. While the couple have not shared when the proposal happened, their upcoming wedding marks a new chapter after four years together.
