Fans searching for who won American Idol finally have their answer after season 24 wrapped up with an emotional finale that crowned Hannah Harper as this year’s winner.
The Missouri singer emerged victorious on Monday night after weeks of live performances, judge critiques and fan voting, defeating fellow finalist Jordan McCullough in the competition’s final showdown.
Harper’s win came after the finale narrowed the field from three contestants to two, with Keyla Richardson leaving the competition earlier in the night. That set up a last face-off between Harper, a 26-year-old stay-at-home mother from Missouri, and McCullough, a 27-year-old worship director from Tennessee.
As the final moments unfolded, judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan watched from the panel before host Ryan Seacrest announced Harper as the newest winner of American Idol.
The moment quickly turned emotional, with Harper visibly overwhelmed as confetti fell around her following the result. She later returned to the stage for a celebratory final performance alongside fellow contestants and the judging panel.
Speaking ahead of the finale, Harper said the experience had already changed contestants’ lives, regardless of who ultimately walked away with the title.
“We’ve all had the opportunity to build our audience while we’re here, and no matter what, we all will have careers once we leave,” Harper said. “So that’s the biggest blessing that I can carry away from this platform.”
While the season may be over, Harper now steps into the spotlight as the newest American Idol champion after a finale packed with nerves, celebration and emotional goodbyes.
