ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan’s hit comedy film “Jawani Phir Nahi Ani” heads toward its third installment, renowned actress Sarwat Gilani has declined to feature in it, citing self-respect as her top priority.

Sarwat, who appeared as the character Gul in the first part released in 2015—a role widely appreciated by audiences—said her interest faded after the second part of the franchise.

Explaining her decision, the actress revealed in an interview that many of her key scenes were excluded from the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 promotional video, despite assurances from the project team. She expressed disappointment over the matter, calling it a breach of trust.

She further added that the film’s promotional event in London was held without informing her of the schedule, leaving her feeling ignored. Gilani shared that she even paid for her own ticket to attend, yet was given little to no importance, as reflected in how minimally she was featured in the promo clips.

Calling the experience “misbehavior,” Sarwat Gilani said she decided not to participate in the third installment, emphasizing that she would never compromise on her self-respect.

However, she clarified that she still holds great respect for Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig, adding that her issue was not with fellow cast members but with the team’s repeated disregard.

The first Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (2015) featured a star-studded cast including Humayun Saeed, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahmad Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry, Mehwish Hayat, Sohai Ali Abro, Sarwat Gilani, Aisha Khan, Uzma Khan, Jawed Sheikh, Bushra Ansari, Ismail Tara, and Bashar Amir Shafi. In its sequel, Fahad Mustafa and Mawra Hocane also joined the lineup.
