‘X’ restored in Pakistan after five days

ISLAMABAD: The microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter, now referred to as ‘X’, has been restored by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority after being down for five days.

The development occurred after the Sindh High Court earlier today ordered the PTA to fully restore the social media site ‘X’ across the country.

Since the night of February 17, Twitter’s service in the country experienced intermittent disruptions and restoration.

The service of X was reinstated in the country four days later on February 20, only to face another disruption shortly thereafter.

Senior journalists Zarar Khuhro, Amber Shamsi and others had approached the Sindh High Court through advocate Abdul Moeez Jafrii against the ban on the social media platform X for five days in the country.

The counsel for the petitioners told the court that the interior minister had stated that no directive had been issued to ban X, while the IT Minister Umar Saif had said that the IT sector had been given a boost.
