President Donald Trump sharply criticised CBS journalist Norah O’Donnell during a recent “60 Minutes” interview, after she raised questions about remarks attributed to the suspect in a case linked to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner security incident.
During the interview, O’Donnell referred to passages allegedly found in a manifesto linked to the accused gunman, Cole Allen. She cited statements in which the suspect reportedly referred to government officials as “targets” and made serious accusations against the president, including words like “pedophile, rapist and traitor,” and suggested a violent motive.
In response, Trump rejected the allegations outright and pushed back strongly against the framing of the question. “I was waiting for you to read that… because you’re horrible people,” he said during the exchange. He also denied the claims, stating, “I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody,” while repeatedly accusing O’Donnell of being “disgraceful” for bringing up the remarks on air.
The exchange quickly became tense, with the president continuing to challenge the legitimacy of the question and urging the journalist to be “ashamed” for quoting the suspect’s alleged statements.
