Zartaj Gul takes helm as SIC parliamentary leader

ISLAMABAD: MNA Zartaj Gul has been appointed as the parliamentary leader of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in the National Assembly. The SIC, primarily comprised of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers, nominated her for the appointment.

]The National Assembly Secretariat on Sunday issued an official notification confirming Gul’s new role. The Sunni Ittehad Council had submitted her nomination papers to Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on June 21.

PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, approved Zartaj Gul’s appointment as the parliamentary leader.

 Prior to her selection, PTI had proposed four candidates for the position: Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Mehboob Sultan, Zain Qureshi, and Ahmed Chattha.

Ultimately, Zartaj Gul was chosen for the role.
