KARACHI: Renowned scriptwriter and satirist, Anwar Maqsood, has strongly refuted rumors circulating on social media alleging his abduction, torture, and intimidation by unidentified individuals.

In a statement, Maqsood expressed frustration over the proliferation of false information and urged his followers to disregard the baseless claims.

Contrary to reports suggesting his ordeal, Maqsood clarified, “The news circulating on social media about me is baseless.” He emphatically termed it as “fake news” and stressed his detachment from social media platforms, asserting, “I neither have any account on social media nor do I watch social media.”

Maqsood revealed that he became aware of the rumors through telephone calls from concerned individuals, further discrediting the sensationalist claims.

“I not only deny all such news but also condemn those who spread such news without verification,” he added, underscoring the importance of responsible reporting.
