Atlas: Jennifer Lopez’s cinematic adventure takes a beating from critics


WEB DESK: Jennifer Lopez’s newest film “Atlas” faced a tidal wave of critical scorn as reviewers gleefully dismantled her acting skills on the eve of the movie’s release.

Atlas made its debut on Netflix this Friday. It features our enigmatic Jennifer Lopez as the protagonist Atlas Shepherd, a data analyst distrustful of artificial intelligence (AI). The geography-branded heroine sets out on a mission to apprehend a rogue robot named Harlan, with whom she shares a mysterious past.

Amidst our map-named heroine’s journey, the backdrop of the movie deals with inhabitants back on earth still reeling with the aftermath of an AI-assault led by Harlan.

Atlas is directed by Brad Peyton and written by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite. The movie boasts a star-studded cast despite the critical assault. Simu Liu, Sterling Brown, and Mark Strong star in supporting roles.

Jennifer Lopez’s Atlas endured a sound inked-beating as critics mercilessly ripped it apart. While a few lauded the film for its action-packed sequences, most couldn’t help but roast its tangled plot and lack of fresh ideas.

The film’s Rotten Tomatoes score stands at a mere 15 per cent, with an average rating of four out of ten. Meanwhile, on the aggregated review site “Metacritic,” our map-inspired science fiction movie garnered a dazzling celebratory score of… 38 out of 100!
