Blake Lively wows in Britney Spears dress at ‘It Ends with US’ premiere

NEW YORK CITY: Blake Lively paid tribute to Britney Spears at the premiere of her new film, It Ends With Us, held at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City on Tuesday.

Lively wore a vintage Versace gown once famously modeled by Spears at the designer’s spring/summer 2003 collection show in Milan.

The 36-year-old actress dazzled in the multicoloured gown originally worn by Spears in 2002. In an interview, Lively explained the significance of her choice.

“Britney has meant so much to me. As a millennial, Britney was the ultimate reason to want to sparkle and shine,” Lively explained. She added, “I was thrilled to find this dress. It deserves a place in the Met.”

Ahead of the premiere, Lively took to Instagram to pay tribute to Spears. She shared a photo of Britney Spears in the same Versace gown, writing, “Britney, us millennials all have a story or years of moments that you made us want to shine. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories.”

At the premiere, Lively was accompanied by her husband, Ryan Reynolds. The couple are parents to four children. They were joined by friends and co-stars including Justin Baldoni, who directs and stars in the film, Jenny Slate, and Hasan Minhaj.

Hugh Jackman, a friend and co-star from Reynolds’ “Deadpool” franchise, was also present.

It Ends With Us is a drama based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 bestselling novel. Lively portrays Lily Bloom, a young florist navigating a challenging romantic relationship while addressing themes of domestic abuse. The film, directed by Baldoni, explores themes of domestic violence.

Lively spoke about her role, “[the] movie explores every colour of human emotion and the support we receive from those who love us”.

In addition to the premiere, Lively revealed that the film’s composer, Rob Simonsen, also worked on Reynolds’ recent film, showcasing a shared creative connection between the couple’s projects.

Lively playfully noted on Instagram that she and Reynolds share more than just their four children—they also share artistic collaborators.
