LOS ANGELES: In a surprising turn of events, Demi Lovato has officially ended her four-year professional relationship with manager Scooter Braun.
The news comes as a shock to fans and the entertainment industry alike, considering Lovato’s affiliation with the well-known US talent agent since 2019.
The decision comes hot on the heels of recent reports suggesting that another artist under Braun’s management, Justin Bieber, was also severing ties with the talent mogul after a staggering 16-year collaboration. However, both sides have subsequently denied the rumors, leaving fans curious about the status of Bieber’s partnership with Braun.
While representatives for Scooter Braun have not yet provided official comments on the matter, Lovato’s split from the manager marks a significant shift in her career trajectory.
During her time under Braun’s guidance, Demi Lovato released two notable albums: “Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over” in 2021 and “Holy Fvck” in 2022. The Heart Attack singer’s association with Braun undoubtedly played a role in shaping her musical journey during this period.
Scooter Braun is well known for representing a roster of high-profile artists including Justin Bieber, J Balvin, Ariana Grande, and The Kid Laroi, Braun’s influence is widely recognized.
However, in 2019, he found himself embroiled in a public feud with Taylor Swift following his acquisition of the rights to her first six albums as part of his purchase of her former label.
Although the master recordings of Swift’s earlier works have since changed hands after a deal with investment firm Shamrock Capital, the artist herself remains committed to regaining ownership of her music. Swift’s strategy involves re-recording her previous albums to create new versions (“Taylor’s Versions”) of her iconic hits.
As a testament to her determination, Taylor Swift recently announced the release date of “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” – scheduled to debut on October 27. This reimagined album adds to her growing collection of re-recorded works, including “Fearless,” “Red,” and “Speak Now.”
Demi Lovato’s decision to part ways with Scooter Braun adds an intriguing layer to the evolving landscape of artist-manager relationships in the music industry.
