Fiza ali criticised for remarks against Suhail Warriach

LAHORE: Actress and singer Fiza Ali is facing severe criticism for a statement made during a TV program, in which she made a derogatory comment about senior journalist Suhail Warraich.

Fiza Ali recently appeared on a news show where the host, Kamran Shahid, asked the guests in a humorous tone what they would be if they weren’t in their current profession.

The actress jokingly said that senior journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami would be a “chef” and Irshad Bhatti a “tailor.” However, her comment about Suhail Warraich sparked controversy.

Fiza Ali said, “If Suhail Warraich were not a journalist, he would have been cleaning washrooms in a hotel, because he goes to every women’s washroom.”

This statement quickly went viral on social media, drawing strong backlash from users. One user wrote, “Suhail Warraich is a journalistic academy. Being a woman does not give her the right to say whatever she wants.”

In response to the controversy, Suhail Warraich reacted with dignity and humility. He wrote on the social networking platform ‘X’:

“My status is even lower than those who clean toilets. I am the dust of the streets that Mian Muhammad Bakhsh called ‘Galiyan da Rora Koora.’”

He added, “For me, cleaning toilets is not a matter of humiliation. Cleaning the dirt of others is a great service.”

Warraich’s graceful response has been widely appreciated on social media, with many users praising his humility and patience.
