The 49-year-old Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal portrays Marcus Acacius in the long-awaited sequel of Gladiator II. However, there’s more to the story for fans of the actor. Though Pascal insisted he wasn’t ordered to get in shape for the film, he wanted to be in good physical condition to avoid injury.
In a new interview, Pedro talked about not needing to train for the role, but doing it anyway so he would be able to certain things more easily, an article published by Just Jared said.

“I was in no single directive from the movie to get in any kind of shape, but I did. Mainly so that I wouldn’t get hurt, and it didn’t work. I got hurt anyway,” he said. “I got stronger than I’ve ever been just so that I can play the character, really.”
“I trained, and rehearsed obviously, a lot, to be able to do it.”
Despite this self-motivated behavior, the actor got injured while filming Gladiator II. While this news sent his fans clutching their chests, the trailer of Gladiator II brought yet another shock for the fandom.
Pedro Pascal can be seen running into the battlefield without a helmet, despite his fellow actors-warriors clad in full protection gear. While it is a spectacular sight to look at, it also brought PTSD symptoms to the fans of Game of Throne (GoT) franchise, where Pascal’s Oberyn Martell also suffered due to absence of a war helmet.

One of the social media comments recorded by the platform UNILAD said, “Whenever I see Pedro Pascal in a war setup without his helmet. I go into GoT PTSD. That viper vs mountain episode was scary”. Another comment read, “Pedro still not wearing a helmet, didn’t learn from his GOT days”.
Whether Marcus Acacius has better battlefield abilities or will he go the same path as Oberyn Martell is yet to be seen. Gladiator II is set to hit the screens on November 22.
