“I love film, you know, and so the idea of being included in a group of other people that love film and to be able to look back and herald it and celebrate it. Ok, I’m so happy to be here. I’m so happy they chose me,” Kidman told Reuters on the red carpet.

Kidman intended to use the honor to pay homage to all her directors, writers and co-stars, saying, “Any actor will tell you, you’re nothing without a great director and a great writer.”

Kidman began her career with break-out performances in the thriller ‘Dead Calm’ and the mini-series ‘Bangkok Hilton’, before breaking into Hollywood.

Her first major Hollywood role was in ‘Days of Thunder’, where she met her now ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Cruise and Kidman co-starred in films such as ‘Far and Away’ and ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ during their 11 year marriage.

Other notable films include ‘Cold Mountain’, ‘The Golden Compass’, ‘Paddington’, ‘Lion’, ‘Bombshell’, and 2021’s ‘Being the Ricardos’, for which she was also nominated for an Oscar.

The actress also worked with international directors on films such as ‘Dogville’, ‘The Others’ and ‘Birth’.

“I’m wild at heart and so I want to see the world. I want to work with people from all different cultures and places. I want to be a part of the world, and I will continue to do that until the day I die,” Kidman said.
