Riz Ahmed urges end to Gaza bombing

WEB DESK: British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed has called for an end to Israel’s forceful bombardment of Gaza.

Terming Israel’s retaliation against Palestinians as “morally indefensible war crimes,” the Oscar-winning actor asserted his belief in the singular side of humanity in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Taking to Instagram, the Sound of Metal actor condemned recent events in Israel and the persistent suffering in Gaza, highlighting the genuine pain and fear experienced by those affected. The actor’s message continued with a fervent call for unity and urgent action, stressing the critical need to acknowledge the suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza to avert further loss of life.

Emphasising the urgency for an immediate halt to the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza’s civilians, Ahmed outlined key priorities, including the protection of vital infrastructure, ensuring access to essential resources like food, water, and electricity, and preventing the forced displacement of people from their homes. He characterised these actions as “morally indefensible war crimes.”

Riz Ahmed also urged people to empathise with the people of Gaza and to speak out before it is too late. Acknowledging the challenge of finding the right words, he underscored the importance of breaking the silence, concluding with the assertion that “Staying silent is not an option.”
