Shannon Sharpe wild Insta story: Hacked or a mess?

WEB DESK: Here we go again, folks! Shannon Sharpe cannot, it seems, stay out of limelight for long.

Be it his antics, or latest round of controversy making rounds on internet more convoluted than a category 5 hurricane, the former NFL player sure loves to live in the spotlight.

So what is the host of “Club Shay Shay” podcast up to now? Well, the latest gossip has all the hallmark of a modern scandal: Instagram, allegations of hacking, and a spicy encounter.

What’s that?, you may ask, and we are more than happy to answer! Our lovely, rippling Shannon Sharpe, it seems, was involved in a sexual encounter that was ‘accidentally’ streamed live on Wednesday.

But before you clutch your pearls, read on. A video that seemingly depicts Sharpe in a compromising position streamed live on his Instagram account.

In response to the shocked uproar, the former American football player quickly asserted that his account had been ‘compromised’ – in other words, hacked!

Now, allegations of hacking from celebs following some scandal or two is nothing new.

In a now-removed post on his Instagram Stories, Shannon Sharpe claimed that “Warning: my @shannonsharpe84 Instagram was hacked this morning. My team and I are diligently working to resolve this issue”.

That’s quite a blunder there, don’t you think?

The controversial video in question itself is blurry and unreliable. The video captures some corner of a room with unfocused floors and bedpost. However, the audio is a bit more …telling. A woman can be heard in the video, with several other noises that can be interpreted as – well – intimate.

This led to huge speculation of whom the male voice belonged  to, with many fans stating with certainty it was Sharpe’s.

The video spread like wildfire, with clips circulating on social media platforms online including X (formerly Twitter). As is very human (or modern online culture anyway), many were quick to weigh in on an insignificant incident. (Who got time for starving children or natural disasters?)

Rapper Se*yy Red shared a meme about the clip, with many others later expressing extreme doubt about the hacking claim from Sharpe. Several were quick  to point out the hypocrisy of Sharpe, who previously admonished Chad Ochocinco for “unprofessional” behaviour, while seemingly appearing to engage in similar actions himself.

Sharpe is a highly celebrated American football player, with one of best “tight ends” position-holder in the sport’s history. He enjoyed a 14-year successful career before switching to an increase public presence on his social media handles and podcasting.

He enjoys a successful career as a broadcaster, as well.
