LOS ANGELES: The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards wrapped up on Sunday night at the Peacock Theatre, marking the second rendition of the awards to take place this year, after the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards occurred earlier in January due to the writers’ strike in 2023.
It was a historic night for television, with series “Shogun” being nominated for 25 awards, the most this year and the most ever for a show in its debut season, including nominations for Outstanding drama series and both Outstanding lead actor and actress in a drama series.
Together with their outing a week prior at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, “Shogun” won 18 awards, continuing their record-breaking streak as it was the most ever for a show with a single season.
“The Bear,” FX’s hit show looked to be in for an equally impressive outing, already breaking records before the night even began with the most nominations for a comedy series in the history of the awards.
A brief history of diamond desirability
Although both Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach won their respective awards for outstanding lead actor and outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series, it was HBO’s “Hacks” that stole the show, taking home the award for outstanding comedy series.
However, “The Bear” still broke their own record for most Emmys won by a comedy series at 11, beating their outing a year prior by 1.
British Netflix series “Baby Reindeer” also won big, taking home four Emmy’s. Richard Gadd won three himself for writing, producing, and starring in the show, while co-star Jessica Gunning won outstanding supporting actress in a limited series.
