WEB DESK: In a recent post on social media, presented with a timeless black-and-white aesthetic, the legendary rapper and entrepreneur, Snoop Dogg, made a surprising revelation—he has decided to quit smoking.
The statement, posted on Thursday, conveyed a thoughtful decision after discussions with his family, urging followers to respect his privacy during this significant shift.
“I’m giving up smoke,” he declared in the post’s caption, leaving many fans both surprised and supportive.
Notable figures like Queen Latifah, Jhené Aiko, and Maya Rudolph expressed their encouragement in the comments. .
Aiko wrote, “You got this, Unc!” Meanwhile, Venezuelan singer and rapper Micro TDH humorously remarked, “Not smoking, it’s the new smoking.”
However, a hint of scepticism lingered among some users. Actor Lamorne Morris, intrigued, questioned the meaning of “smoke” in a comment on Snoop’s Instagram post, and @ambie02 cheekily asked, “Is it April Fool’s Day?”
T-Pain, Snoop’s recent collaborator on the track “That’s How We Ballin,” clarified that their music video was filmed before Snoop’s decision, where he is seen smoking.
Snoop’s subsequent posts alluded to his pledge without providing specific details, leaving fans curious. A selfie captioned “Respect my privacy” was followed by another post featuring a gust of air emoji, where Snoop gazes slightly off-camera.
According to an interview with hip-hop magazine The Source, Snoop discussed a limited edition crossbody bag, stating it has everything, from his favourite lighter to dime-sized secret stash pockets for herbs.
The rapper also teased a forthcoming lighter collection set to debut next year.
Snoop Dogg’s association with marijuana is well-known, with references in his music and multiple ventures in the cannabis industry.
His branded line of weed, Leafs by Snoop, and involvement in the cannabis investment fund Casa Verde are testaments to his enduring connection with the herb.
