Taylor Swift’s song costs Kim Kardashian 120,000 followers

WEB DESK: Taylor Swift’s latest album “The Tortured Poets Department,” has reignited a decade-long feud between the singer and reality TV star Kim Kardashian.

The latest episode in a long-going saga resulted in a significant social media loss for Kim Kardashian. Taylor’s track “thanK you aIMee” reportedly targeted Kardahsian and addresses their longstanding feud. The song led to Kardashian losing over 120,000 Instagram followers within hours of its release.

Kardashian’s follower count on Instagram fell from 364.3 million to 363 million.

Many have traced the feud between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian to 2016 when Kardashian’s then-husband Kanye West song featured derogatory remarks about Taylor.

Kardashian chose to defend her then-husband while alleging that Taylor had approved the lyrics. Meanwhile, Taylor denied Kardashian’s claims and said she would never consent to such ‘offensive’ language. The billionaire singer would accuse Kardashian of misrepresenting the situation by “editing a phone call” where Taylor allegedly gave a go-ahead for the song.

Swift’s fans – known as Swifties – flooded Kardashian’s social media with snake emojis in response. True to her style, Taylor addressed the incident by writing a song about it on her album “Reputation.”

In 2019, the two women seemed to have buried the hatchet with Kardashian commenting that everyone had moved on.

However, in “The Tortured Poets Department” Swift brought up the feud again. In the song, Taylor reportedly talks about how the feud was not a honourable fight and goes in detail about its impact on her mental health as media and Kardashian’s fans alike ripped her apart.

Despite the public animosity and its recent repercussions, Kardashian has remained silent.
