ISLAMABAD: TikToker and actress Samiya Hijab has sought protection from Islamabad police, alleging that she is being harassed and threatened by a Lahore resident after rejecting his marriage proposal.
In a video message on X, she accused Hassan Zahid of following her for the past three months. She said he recently appeared at her Islamabad residence, rang the doorbell, and allegedly snatched her mobile phone before fleeing.
She said the man asked her to accompany him and, when she refused, he pushed her into a car in an attempt to kidnap her.
According to her, her ill mother was at home while her brother was away when the incident occurred. She said that if she is harmed or killed, the man should be held responsible.
Hijab said she did not want to “become another Sana Yousuf,” referring to the young woman who was shot dead in Islamabad’s G-13 sector on June 2 after refusing a marriage proposal.
She said that Islamabad police responded to her complaint, visited her residence and assured her of protection. She has appealed to the inspector general of police for further security.
The TikToker has faced controversy in recent months after her alleged obscene videos circulated online.
In April, she strongly rejected the claims, saying the clips were fake and leaked by her former boyfriend. She insisted the content was fabricated using artificial intelligence.
In an Instagram video, Hijab said the girl in the videos did not resemble her, adding that she only addressed the issue after fans expressed concern.
She also shared an audio clip in which a man could be heard demanding money, alleging that her ex-boyfriend was behind the leaks.
She had claimed the man was her former partner who was attempting to extort her, adding that she had also approached his family over the matter.
She reiterated that the ‘leaked videos’ circulating online were not hers, describing them as part of a malicious campaign to defame her.
Over the past year, alleged leaked videos of several TikTokers, social media influencers, politicians and actresses have raised serious concerns about online privacy.
Such incidents, which can have devastating consequences for victims, underline the gravity of the issue.
