Former President Donald Trump has ventured into the realm of celebrity relationships, sharing his thoughts on the budding romance between pop sensation Taylor Swift and US National Football League (NFL) star Travis Kelce, all while making predictions about the longevity of their newfound love.

In an interview, Trump offered his best wishes to the high-profile couple, stating, “I wish the best for both of them. I hope they enjoy their life, maybe together, maybe not – most likely not.”

Trump’s well-wishing gesture might come as a surprise to some, considering the tumultuous history between the former president and Taylor Swift. She has been a vocal critic of Trump during his time in office, and has also accused him of election misconduct in 2020. In a social media post Swift wrote, “Trump’s calculated dismantling of USPS proves one thing clearly: He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president. He’s chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans’ lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power.”

Before that in 2018, Trump had commented on Swift’s political statements on Senator Marsha Blackburn, saying, “I’m sure Taylor Swift has nothing, or doesn’t know anything about her. And let’s say that I like Taylor’s music about 25 percent less now, okay?”

Adding fuel to the fire, a recent Washington Post column titled “If anyone should be worried about Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce, it’s Trump,” explored the potential political implications of their union. The column, penned by contributing columnist Rick Reilly, highlighted that both Swift and Kelce have garnered their fair share of criticism from right-wing circles.

Swift’s vocal stance against Trump and support for abortion rights, coupled with Kelce’s appearances in coronavirus vaccine ads and his taking a knee during the national anthem, have made them controversial figures in certain political quarters.

Reilly pointed out, “These two have fan bases that are huge and devoted,” suggesting that their combined influence could mobilize millions of voters.
