Ushna Shah criticises Hollywood celebrities for ambivalence amid Israel-Hamas war

WEB DESK: As Israel continues its relentless airstrikes on Gaza, Pakistani actor Ushna Shah has strongly criticised celebrities who, in her view, play “both sides” in the conflict.

The majority of Hollywood celebrities have been expressing support for Israel, citing sympathy with the Palestinian struggle and condemning the brutal treatment of Palestinians, with some referring to Gaza as an “open-air prison.”

Shah took to her to X and expressed her discontent with celebrities sympathising with both oppressors and victims. She declared her unwillingness to stay silent on the Gaza war, even if it means foregoing opportunities in Hollywood.

Shah dismissed the idea of supporting “both sides,” criticising such statements as curated by PR teams for what she referred to as “cowards with no substance.”
