YouTuber Rajab Butt released after arrest for wildlife violations

LAHORE: Popular YouTuber Rajab Butt, who was arrested on Sunday, has been released on personal guarantee. The arrest was made on charges of “illegal possession” of a lion cub and the public display of weapons.

According to reports, the Wildlife Department and police raided Butt’s residence in the Chung area on his wedding day after receiving information about the illegal possession of a lion cub and weapons. Allegedly, the lion cub had been given to Butt as a wedding gift.

Under Punjab Wildlife Department regulations, keeping a lion without a valid licence is prohibited. Following the raid, the TikToker was taken into custody and shifted to a local police station.

Authorities have stated that Butt faces legal consequences for violating wildlife protection laws and regulations concerning the display of weapons. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
