10 dead as container falls on passenger van in Karak

PESHAWAR: At least 10 people were killed when a container fell onto a passenger coach in a tragic road accident on Karak Indus Highway.
It is feared that the death toll may rise due to the severity of the incident.
According to rescue sources, the deadly crash occurred near Darbar Hotak, close to the old SNGPL location on the Karak Indus Highway. A heavy container toppled over and crushed a passenger coach travelling from Miranshah to Peshawar.
Soon after the accident, a large number of locals, police, and Rescue 1122 teams reached the site on the Karak Indus Highway and launched a rescue operation.
Passengers trapped under the container were pulled out and taken to nearby hospitals. So far, six of the deceased have been identified.
Lahore braces for heat, advisory issued for schools
Initial reports suggest that there were 16 passengers on board the coach. Ten of them died on the spot, including a woman and a child.
Rescue 1122 said three injured passengers are in critical condition and have been moved to Peshawar.
Fears remain that the death toll could increase as some victims are severely wounded.
