220 martyred, 343 injured in KP terror attacks this year: CTD report

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has faced a devastating wave of terrorist attacks this year, resulting in the martyrdom of 220 people and injuries to 343 more, according to a recent report by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
CTD has provided a detailed breakdown of the casualties, painting a grim picture of the region’s security situation. A significant number of those martyred were police personnel, with 76 officers losing their lives and 113 sustaining injuries during encounters with terrorists and criminals.

The district of Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) has been particularly hard-hit. Reports indicate that 56 police and security personnel, including eight from the Pakistan Army, were martyred in DI Khan, with 75 others injured. In total, 22 police personnel were martyred and 22 injured in DI Khan.
Civilian casualties have also been alarmingly high. This year, 65 civilians were martyred and 98 injured across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, the armed forces have suffered losses, with 39 soldiers martyred and 87 injured. Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have not been spared either, with 29 FC members martyred and 41 injured province-wide.

The violence has also claimed the lives of political figures. In Bajaur and North Waziristan, four political figures were martyred and two were injured in targeted attacks. The CTD report further details the losses within law enforcement agencies, noting that seven members were martyred and two injured in DI Khan alone.
Beyond DI Khan, other districts have also experienced significant casualties. In Bannu, 12 police personnel were martyred and 12 injured. Bajaur saw 11 police personnel martyred and 32 injured. Peshawar itself was not immune, with 11 police officers martyred and 11 others injured by terrorists. One member of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) was martyred and another injured in Peshawar.
CTD report also shows that 98 civilians were injured and 65 were martyred in the province in terror attacks during the year.
