342 new AIDS cases reported in Balochistan

QUETTA: With 342 new cases of AIDS reported in Balochistan province during this year, the total number of cases have hit more than 7000 .

According to Balochistan AIDS Control Program Manager Dr. Khalid-ur-Rehman Qambrani, the number of registered cases in Balochistan has reached 2358.

Dr. Khalid Qambrani stated that 937 cases have been reported from Quetta, 339 cases from Turbat and 44 cases from Hub.

He also told that 30 cases have been reported from Loralai and eight cases from Naseerabad.

Dr. Khalid added that the number of patients in the province have hit more than 7000.

The high risk districts of AIDS include Quetta, Turbat, Gwadar, Zhob, Sherani and Nasirabad, said the manager.

It is pertinent to note that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has set up 13 centers for free diagnosis and treatment of AIDS patients in the province.  

In a statement in Peshawar today, Caretaker Adviser on Health Dr. Riaz Anwar said this year seven new diagnostic centers have been opened along with the existing six centers.

He stated that these new diagnostic centers have been established in Swat, Swabi, Mardan, Abbottabad, ParaChinar, Miran Shah and Bajaur districts.
