Pakistan earns 71 million transport services

WEB DESK: In the first month of the current fiscal year (2023–24), Pakistan generated a total revenue of $70.969 million through providing various transportation services in different countries.

This marks a decrease of 5.32 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Specifically, the sea transport services experienced a significant decline of 50.95 per cent, dropping from $19.960 million to $9.790 million.

Within this category, exports of freight services plummeted by 70.32 per cent, falling from $13.510 million to $4.010 million. Other sea transport services also decreased by 10.39 per cent, from $6.450 million to $5.780 million.

Conversely, air transport services saw a rise of 7.43 per cent, increasing from $53.120 million to $57.069 million during July 2023. Among these services, passenger services increased by 2.97 per cent, from $34.990 million to $36.030 million.

However, freight services experienced a decrease of 36.47 per cent, dropping from $3.290 million to $2.090 million. Other air transport services saw a significant increase of 27.69 per cent, rising from $14.840 million to $18.949 million.

Meanwhile, road transport services exhibited substantial growth, with an 181.06 per cent increase from $1.320 million to $3.710 million.

Within this category, freight services remained stable, while postal and courier services declined by 28.57 per cent, from $0.560 million to $0.400 million, as per the provided PBS data.
