9,500 farmers to benefit from Punjab’s ‘Green Tractor’ scheme

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the ‘Kisan Green Tractor Scheme’ for farmers across the province. The first auction of the applicants revealed 9,500 farmers to benefit from the Rs 1 million subsidy for locally manufactured tractors.

The scheme aimed at modernising agriculture in Punjab has come into fruition after 12 years. The first lottery, conducted by CM Maryam herself, will allocate Rs 1 million subsidy to 339 farmers in Okara, 111 in Chakwal, and 276 in Rajanpur. Additionally, 1,000 tractors will be provided free of charge to farmers cultivating wheat on 25 to 50 acres of land.
The chief minister congratulated all the winning recipients and spoke on the scheme’s potential to improve agricultural productivity across Punjab.
The names of the winning applicants are available on the CM Punjab Green Tractor Scheme portal and are also accessible from the website of the Agriculture Department. Local offices of the agriculture department will also have the lists available.

On the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said, “We want to enter the modern era of mechanisation in agriculture in Punjab.” She also drove one of the tractors and inspected various other models of the tractors including in the scheme.
