Ali Muhammad Khan released from jail

MARDAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former member of the National Assembly Ali Muhammad Khan was released from Mardan Jail on Thursday.
Earlier today, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) two-member bench comprising Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Ijaz Anwar accepted Khan’s plea, ordering his immediate release.

Ali Muhammad Khan has been incarcerating in jail under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) following the May 9 riots in the country.
The counsel for the former minister of state told the court that his client was arrested despite the high court’s order for his release on July 25.
After the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case on May 9, the country witnessed widespread violent protests.
Following the protests, several PTI leaders including Ali Muhammad were arrested and put behind bars.
He was first arrested in connection with May 9 riots. After obtaining bail, he was arrested again by the Anti-corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seven times in different cases.
Moreover, he was arrested thrice in cases registered against him by the National Accountability Bureau.
