RAWALPINDI: Security forces eliminated 10 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
An army officer Captain Hasnain Akhtar was also martyred.
According to a statement from the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted on March 20, 2025, following intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists.
“During the operation, security forces stealthily surrounded the hideout and effectively engaged the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of all 10 militants,” the ISPR stated.
During the fierce exchange of fire, Captain Hasnain Akhtar, who led his troops from the front, embraced martyrdom. The 24-year-old officer, a resident of Jhelum district, was known for his bravery and fearless leadership in previous operations, the ISPR said.

Weapons and ammunition were also seized from the slain terrorists, who were reportedly involved in multiple attacks against law enforcement agencies and targeted killings of civilians.
The military further stated that a sanitization operation is underway to clear the area of any remaining threats. “Pakistan’s security forces are committed to eradicating terrorism, and the sacrifices of our brave officers only strengthen our determination,” the ISPR added.
