Olympics: Arshad Nadeem on a double-decker!

LAHORE: Pakistan’s javelin-thrower Arshad Nadeem found himself on a double-decker bus waving to a crowd of adoring fans minutes after arriving back home to a hero’s welcome from 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday.
As Pakistan’s top sports star touched down at the Lahore airport on a Turkish airlines flight, the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medalist was swarmed by family members and movement officials anxiously awaiting his arrival.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) member Uzma Bukhari, who was at the airport to receive Arshad Nadeem, mentioned that Olympian would board a double-decker bus for a chance to interact with fans anxiously awaiting his arrival outside the Lahore airport.
The provincial information minister stated that the javelin-thrower has made the entire nation proud.
Arshad Nadeem received a hero’s welcome as he dismounted from a Turkish airlines airplane to step foot on Pakistani soil again. He was warmly embraced by his father as the Olympian was thronged by government officials and family members at the Lahore airport.
The gold medalist received bouquets and was adorned by garlands while officials and family members embraced the national sports hero.
After addressing the media briefly, the javelin-thrower made his way outside while a huge crowd swarmed around to catch a glimpse of the sports star. He then stepped on a double-decker bus once outside the airport.
Arshad Nadeem waved to a cheering crowd, as the public welcomed back the hero that made 240 million people proud.

Arshad Nadeem won gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics where he broke a 118-year old Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 metres. The Olympian athlete threw the javelin 88.72m, 79.40m, 84.87m and 91.79m in six rounds.
The javelin-thrower became the first Pakistani to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics after 40 years. He also ended a nearly 32-year drought of any Olympic medals for Pakistan.
