ISLAMABAD: In the wake of a rainfall coupled with gusty winds and thunderstorm, a total of 43 feeders operated by the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) experienced outages on Sunday, disrupting power supply to various areas in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The inclement weather, characterised by moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, led to electrical faults in these feeders, triggering power interruptions across several localities, said a spokesperson for the IESCO.

Feeders in Bairoot, Taramdi, Company Bagh, Jhangi Basal, Chakri, Jatla Karpa, Kallar Kahar City, Burhan City, Sohawa, New Rawat, Ghaur Gharhi, Kallar Syedan, Dhok Noor, Hatiyan, Forah Chowk, Nara Mor and Ganan, have reported faults, the IESCO spokesperson said.

Residents reported facing difficulties due to the sudden power cuts, with homes, businesses, and essential services impacted by the disruption.

The IESCO spokesperson said that teams have been dispatched to rectify the faults and restore electricity to the affected areas.

The IESCO has urged residents to exercise caution and avoid approaching downed power lines or electrical equipment during the ongoing repair operations.

“Safety remains a top priority for both IESCO workers and the public,” the spokesperson said.

While efforts are under way to swiftly restore power, IESCO has requested residents to bear with them as they address the aftermath of the heavy rainfall and endeavour to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the affected areas.
