ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the nation’s capital has given its approval to the pre-arrest bail request submitted by Ali Wazir, a prominent leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), in connection with a terrorism case registered with the Tarnol police.

Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqernain presided over the proceedings of the pre-arrest bail plea hearing.

Wazir’s attorney, Atta Ullah Kundi, argued that the investigation officer had failed to provide any valid justification for not apprehending his client over the past three years.

He questioned why Wazir was not included in the investigation when he was initially arrested as part of the same case.

In light of the police’s inability to establish grounds for Wazir’s arrest, the judge decided to approve the pre-arrest bail application.

Subsequently, the ATC judge granted Ali Wazir’s bail, with the condition of submitting surety bonds worth Rs 50,000.
