Attack on police mobile in Naran leaves two policemen injured

Gilgit: Two policemen were injured when militants attacked a police patrol party Gati Das area in Naran Valley on Sunday night.
A spokesperson for the Mansehra police said that unknown armed assailants opened fire on a police mobile van during a routine patrol within the jurisdiction of the Naran Police Station, near the Gati Das checkpost.
The spokesperson said two policemen sustained injuries as result of the firing. He said the injured cops were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are being provided medical treatment. Their condition is now reported to be out of danger.
Upon receiving information about the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Mansehra, Shafiullah Gandapur, arrived at the crime scene. Meanwhile, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Paras and the Naran Station House Officer (SHO), along with a heavy police contingent, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the culprits.

The spokesperson added that Chilas police had also been taken on board, and checkpoints were established across the adjoining areas to prevent any escape.
DPO Gandapur said the morale of the police remains high and assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the safety of citizens. He said the operation would continue until those responsible are brought to justice.
