Missing child of Dr Saad recovered

LODHRAN: The body of a three-year-old child Abdul Hadi, son of Dr Saad Islam, who went missing during the Babusar flood tragedy, has been recovered.

Dr Saad and his family were part of a 22-member tourist group from Lodhran visiting Babusar Top. Their vehicle was swept away by flash floods on the Babusar-Thak Road.

The incident claimed five lives, including Dr Fahad Islam and Dr Mishal Fatima Saad, wife of Dr Saad.

Dr Saad sustained a leg fracture but is said to be conscious and in stable condition.

Their son, Abdul Hadi, had gone missing in the floods and was the subject of an extensive three-day search operation.

The child’s funeral prayers will be announced upon the body’s arrival in Lodhran.

Dr Saad and Dr Fahad Islam were owners of Shahida Islam Medical and Teaching Hospital.

At least 245 people, including 118 children, have lost their lives in rain-related incidents across Pakistan, according to a detailed report issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on the ongoing monsoon season.

 National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) warning tourists against travel to northern areas of the country till July 25 has relayed that Karakorum Highway and Babusar Top have been closed from both sides due to land sliding.

According to the NDMA spokesperson, heavy rains in the northern areas have raised concerns of flooding due to landslides and Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) events. The affected areas include Reshun, Brep, Booni, Sardar Gol, Thulo, Hunarchi, Darkut, and Ishkoman.
