Balochistan Assembly passes resolution seeking to ban PTI

PTI ban

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution seeking a ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the party of fueling violence and instability in the country.

The resolution, presented by Manzoor Ahmed Khosa of the Balochistan Awami Party, was passed unanimously. It alleged that PTI had been instigating unrest in the country, pitching the public against security forces, and was involved in the May 9 incidents.

It further said that PTI’s actions were tantamount to advancing the agenda of anti-state forces and called on the federal government to impose an immediate ban on the party.

Earlier, Senator Faisal Vawda had claimed that PTI would soon be banned and restructured under the name “PTI Pakistan,” consisting of loyal members.

“Once banned, PTI will face a fate similar to that of the MQM. Just as MQM-Pakistan emerged after the ban on MQM-London, ‘PTI Pakistan’ will emerge with loyal members.”

Vawda had claimed that the PTI’s leadership had collectively decided to distance themselves from Bushra Bibi, blaming her for the party’s current troubles. “They’ve all agreed that she has become a problem, and now they will ensure her arrest,” he had claimed.

He had insisted that Bushra Bibi’s arrest was imminent.

Vawda warned that if Bushra Bibi continued her current course, it would lead to Imran Khan’s political death. He had also criticised the PTI leadership, stating that its leaders had lost credibility and could no longer face the public.

Earlier, PTI’s nominated Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja has resigned from his position following persistent criticism after the failed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk.

The position of PTI’s secretary-general has remained vacant for over two months, with no replacement appointed since Omar Ayub officially stepped down on September 7.
