QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has issued orders for the dismissal of 2,000 absent teachers, underscoring a firm stance on educational governance.
Emphasizing a hands-off approach to the education department, Bugti asserted that district education officers would be appointed strictly based on merit.
Chairing a high-level meeting of the education department, Bugti issued directives to the provincial chief secretary to promptly dismiss habitually absent teachers and furnish a comprehensive report on the matter within a month.

The Balochistan chief minister warned of consequences for any continued absenteeism among teachers, stating that subsequent absenteeism would lead to disciplinary action against the education secretary.
Addressing the financial aspect of education, Bugti said that the province spends Rs5,625 per child per month, translating to approximately Rs72,000 annually per capita.
He asserted that with such funding, every child could get an education in the country’s top private educational institutions.
