Barrister Gohar, Mehmood Khan Achakzai reach Parliament House

ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Barrister Gohar and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai arrived at the Parliament House.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Law Minister Azam Nasir Tarar joined Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in last ditch efforts to woo him to their side.

Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, were already at the Maulana’s house.

The discussions centre around the proposed 26th constitutional amendment, which seeks to restructure the country’s judiciary.

The proposed amendments includes plans to establish a constitutional bench within the Supreme Court and revise the appointment process for the Chief Justice.

The ruling coalition, led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the PPP, aims to secure an absolute majority in Parliament to pass the bill.
