ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is to convene a high-level meeting of the government’s economic team to finalise budget proposals ahead of its parliamentary approval today.
The federal cabinet meeting, rescheduled for 3pm at the Parliament House, will be chaired by the prime minister. Key agenda items include approval of the budget documents and finance bill for the upcoming fiscal year, as well as finalising proposed increases in salaries and pensions for government employees.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will brief the cabinet on the budget’s key features. Following the session, PM Shehbaz will attend the National Assembly meeting where the budget is expected to be presented.

Separately, the economic team’s meeting – attended by the finance minister, relevant federal secretaries, and FBR officials – will focus on briefing the premier on the budget speech and proposed salary and pension hikes for public sector employees.
The developments come as the government prepares to present its economic plan amid pressing fiscal challenges and public expectations for relief measures.
