CAA shuts down Peshawar airport after plane fire incident

PESHAWAR: A Saudi Airlines plane caught fire while landing at Bacha Khan Airport, Peshawar this morning. The accident has prompted the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to halt all flight operations until 10:30 AM on Friday.
The CAA has notified all airlines of the closure, directing incoming flights to land at an alternate airport.
Saudi Airline makes emergency landing at Peshawar airport
A fire broke out in the landing gear of the Saudi Airlines plane landing at Peshawar Airport. After the flight landed, the air traffic controller observed smoke and sparks in the left wing, and informed the pilot about the fire in the gear, Civil Aviation spokesperson said while sharing the details.
The spokesperson said that the aircraft remains on the runway, rendering it unavailable for other flights. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Board has taken notice of the incident, and an investigation team is expected to arrive at the site to conduct a thorough inquiry.
