
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s staff withdrawn

LAHORE: The caretake Punjab government has withdrawn 60 employees including security personnel, drivers, cooks and telephone operators who were at the disposal of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
The staff had been delegated to Elahi, who is currently under detention under corruption charges. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has booked Elahi accusing him of making illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.
Various other corruption charges have also also been filed against the PTI leader by the ACE in Lahore and Gujranwala.
Meanwhile, the hearing on Pervaiz Elahi’s bail plea was postponed till June 19 as anti-corruption special judge Ali Raza Awan is on leave.
Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti and Parliamentary Affairs Director General Rai Mumtaz Hussain Babar have been suspended on corruption charges.
