An “IT city” commonly denotes a city or region within a country specifically geared towards information technology (IT) and associated sectors. These areas typically host a cluster of IT firms, tech startups, research centers, and educational institutions specialising in IT and related disciplines.

The overall aim of an IT city is to cultivate innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development by offering a proper, customised infrastructure, resources, and a conducive atmosphere for IT-related enterprises and professionals.

The most famous examples of IT cities include the Silicon Valley in United States, Bengaluru in India, and Cyberjaya in Malaysia.
